The greenhouse of Higashiyama Botanical Garden is formed of three rows north and south.
It was established in 1937 and is the oldest in existence in Japan.
The central part of the anterior row is the Central Palm Greenhouse which is dome-shaped.
It is 12.4 m in height, and it is used for growing tall trees such as palms.
The large relatives of Palm such as
Double coconut and Areca palm
and the relatives of Ficus such as
Indian rubber tree are planted here, and it fully gives an atmosphere of a warm southern forest of everlasting summer.
The 13 kinds of plant such as the Bougainvillea and the Bodhi tree are also grown here since its opening.
